Symposium on Affordable Health Care for All Kansans

Dec. 6th 7:30pm at Trinity Lutheran Church

34,000 children between the age of 0 – 5 do not get the proper health care because they are not insured. Thousands of Kansans do not have insurance. This is due to disabilities, having a mental illness and simply not making enough money to pay insurance premiums.

The SCHIP bill that President Bush vetoed was not overridden by congress. Why? Because the majority in congress have never experienced being without health care. If you haven’t personally lived in this situation there is no way that you can truly understand what it is like to be caught in this lifestyle.

All that we know how to do is show compassion to those in need. We know how to complain about the situation and know that they should do something about it. Who are they? They are you and I. A Mind-set of changing our way of thinking and feeling about such issues need to start using the word I. I must be the change that I want to see to in Health Care.

Health Care solutions have been and still are being worked on by trying to patch the existing system. The system is broken. It needs to be replaced with something new. A new Mind-set, a new attitude. This discussion will look at something that is broken and cannot be repaired.

With a new Mind-set solutions can be found. They can be found within ourselves. Our thoughts, our attitudes, our pre-conceived ideas, the trust we have in our Government must all be re-examined. We must think “outside the box”. To have the faith that we as citizens can find the solutions and get them implemented in to our society.

Speaking will be Jane McIrvine, a nurse who is also the President of the State’s National Alliance on Mental Illness; Cindy Daniels/David Middleton, caseworker for Prairie View and Randy Conyers who has spent 32 years designing health care software.

The symposium is to make us all aware that a new Mind-set, a new attitude must be looked at as if will had no health insurance at all in our society. We need to start brainstorming on a new way for providing healthcare for every Kansan.

To financially help this cause sorbet can be purchased. Randy Conyers has hand thrown a variety of sorbet cups. Sorbet is used in the finest restaurants to cleanse the palate before the next course is served. It is symbolic of how we need to cleanse out thoughts and open ourselves to what will be the new course of action when looking at healthcare.

Join us at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 119 North Elm, McPherson on Thursday night December 6th @ 7:30pm. The church is two blocks east of Main Street at the corner of Kansas and Elm. Become the I in the new mInd-set.
